This month, we have asked one of our customers to share with you their journey to choosing a Tiger Moth.
By Karl Baker
It was last year, that my wife and I started to seriously think about the possibilities of buying a campervan. As a youngster, my grandad owned a campervan and I have many fond memories of going out and about with him, exploring the outdoors.
These days, we enjoy coastal walks and thought a campervan would be a great addition and help us go a bit further afield. Our idea was to also use it as our everyday car. We wanted to buy from a local, established garage with a good customer service record.
We knew we wanted a newish, low mileage model and value for money. I did quite a lot of research, looking around on the internet and visited a couple of advertised VWs vans in the local Wiltshire area but we soon realised that VWs were either too old, had too high mileage or were just too expensive.
We then started looking at the Ford Custom Transit; Ford’s commercial workhorse and came across the Tiger Moth Website via an Autotrader advert. The website was very informative which reassured us and gave us confidence in the business. It explained the family business history, the reason for the name ‘Tiger Moth’, the specifications and features the campervans offer.
We were made very welcome
The fact that the Tiger Moths are predesigned, luxury, ready to go vehicles, – with some optional extras if you want them – really appealed to us. So we decided to visit Nortree to see the showroom model. First, we met Dan and later Ed, 2 of the 3 brothers who now run the business. It was a pleasant surprise to talk to them as there was no sales pressure whatsoever, just a nice friendly atmosphere and we were made very welcome. I liked the look of the silver showroom model but mentioned to Dan that I would have preferred a blue one. “No problem” he said, “as it happens, we have a blue one being built at the moment.”
The sales process was totally pain free. They made me a good offer for my car in part-exchange and after some further consideration, we decided to go for it!
We love our Tiger Moth!
Now that we have our Blue Tiger Moth Campervan on the drive – we haven’t looked back. It drives just like a normal car, very manoeuvrable and easy to park as well. It’s a good base model with a decent engine, low emission Euro6, low mileage and we have a further 2 years manufacturers warranty on it.
The Tiger Moth has a lovely luxury feel inside, with soft leather seats and an easy to use rock-and-roll bed. It is deceptively spacious and with the awning and built-in heater, we are looking forward to our long weekend away in North Devon this Autumn.
When we are on the road, we get loads of positive comments from people who haven’t seen a Tiger Moth before and they like the look of it. Personally, we love our Tiger Moth; it’s luxurious, stylish, comfortable and up there with the best.
